Factual Note on Sabbath:
The Sabbath is the 7th day of the week (Saturday), observed from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday (Leviticus 23:32). In Hebrew it is called Shabbat (שַׁבָּת), from the root שָׁבַת (shavat) meaning “to cease, desist, or rest.” It was commanded at Creation (Genesis 2:2-3) and written into the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:8-11). Ancient Semitic calendar systems followed a 7-day cycle with the 7th day as holy rest. Proper observance includes complete rest from work, holy convocation, and honoring Yahweh using His true name. The Messiah Yahshua (יֵשׁוּעַ — “Yahweh saves”) kept and taught the Sabbath according to Torah.

Here is the direct, condensed fact sheet on how the phrase "first day of the week" entered our Bibles:

1. The Original Greek Says "Sabbath"

In every single resurrection account (e.g., Matthew 28:1, John 20:1), the original Greek manuscripts do not say "first day of the week." They literally read:

μία τῶν σαββάτων (Mia tōn sabbatōn) — "The first of the Sabbaths"

Linguistically, this directly references the Hebrew command to count seven weekly Sabbaths leading up to Pentecost (Leviticus 23:15).

2. Early Translations Maintained "Sabbath"

The earliest historical translations did not use the word "week."

  • The Latin Vulgate (382 AD): Translates it literally as "Una autem sabbati" ("The first of the Sabbath").

  • Wycliffe’s English Bible (1382): Translates it straight from the Latin as "one day of the sabotis" ("one day of the Sabbaths").

3. Why It Changed to "Week"

The shift happened in the 1500s (starting with William Tyndale and formalized by the King James Version in 1611).

Translators swapped the literal word "Sabbath" for the idiomatic phrase "first day of the week" to make the text fit the Roman solar calendar used by Western readers. To make it work, the KJV translators had to add the words "day of the" in italics, proving those words do not exist in the original Greek text.

The Bottom Line: The phrase "first day of the week" is a later human interpretation. The earliest manuscripts completely tie the resurrection timeline to the Hebrew Sabbath calendar.

Warning: There are two paths—one narrow road that leads to eternal life through faithful obedience to Christ, and one broad road that leads to destruction and the lake of fire—your choice matters eternally. Matthew 7:13-14

The one question every professing Christian must answer—your eternity hinges on it.

 

Tampering with Scripture (adding human ideas/traditions as divine commands or subtracting/removing/ignoring/twisting any part) reveals a heart not truly submitted to God. This risks one's name not being found—or shown never to have been—in the Lamb's Book of Life, resulting in eternal judgment in the lake of fire (the second death). Revelation 22:18-19,

 

A life of ongoing sin reflects the devil’s influence, unrepentant behavior rather than an occasional mistake. It’s the contrast between someone who struggles who has the Holy Spirit but tries to improve, versus someone who intentionally chooses a path away from God

  There are three elements to a legal seal.

Czy Nowy Testament znosi sabat?

Jezus mówi, że ten dzień odpoczynku jest przeznaczony dla ludzi (Mk 2,27). Jezus twierdzi, że jest „Panem szabatu”. To panowanie nie znosi szabatu – bo dlaczego Jezus miałby znieść coś, nad czym uważa się za władcę? – ale zamiast tego wzmacnia jego żywotność na całe życie.

Sabat i Zmartwychwstanie

 

Nie ma miejsca w całej Biblii, gdzie znajdziesz wersety zmieniające sabat dnia siódmego na niedzielę, dlaczego nie przeszkadza ci, gdy oddajesz cześć w inny dzień niż dzień, który Bóg uczynił świętym i pamiętasz? To czwarte przykazanie.

 

Większość chrześcijan wskazuje na List do Rzymian 14 jako dowód na zmianę dnia sabatu, jednak nie znajdziesz w tej księdze słowa sabat.

Nie popełnij błędu, Bóg pozwoli ci przeciwstawić się Mu i okazać Mu nieposłuszeństwo. On pozwoli ci podążać za tłumem i tradycjami mężczyzn. On pozwoli ci grzeszyć. Ale mówi też, że nadchodzi dzień rozrachunku. Jak posiejesz, tak zbierzesz!

Warto zauważyć, że jest tylko jeden dzień tygodnia, któremu Ojciec nadaje nazwę, sabat, siódmy dzień. Wszystkie inne dni to liczby.

 

  • Ezechiela 22:26 Jej kapłani (wasi pasterze) zgwałcili Moje prawo i zbezcześcili Moje święte rzeczy; nie czynili rozróżnienia między tym, co święte, a tym, co bluźniercze, i nie nauczali różnicy między tym, co nieczyste, a tym, co czyste; i zasłaniają swoje oczy przed Moimi szabatami, a Ja jestem wśród nich bezczeszczony. 27 Jej książęta w niej są jak wilki rozdzierające zdobycz, przelewając krew i niszcząc życie, aby uzyskać nieuczciwy zysk.…

  • Ezechiela 20:12Dałem im też moje sabaty, aby były znakiem między Mną a nimi, aby wiedzieli, że Ja jestem Jehowa, który ich uświęca. Jak ktoś może być uświęcony bez zachowywania sabatu?

  • Wyjścia 20:9 „Pamiętaj o dniu sabatu, aby go święcić. Sześć dni będziesz pracował i wykonywał wszelką swoją pracę, ale dnia siódmego jest szabat Pana, Boga twego. Nie będziesz wykonywał w nim żadnej pracy ani ty, ani twój syn, ani twoja córka, ani twój sługa, ani twoja służąca, ani twoje bydło, ani obcy, który jest w twoich bramach. Albowiem w sześciu dniach Jahwe stworzył niebo i ziemię, morze i wszystko, co w nich jest, a dnia siódmego odpoczął. Dlatego Jahwe pobłogosławił dzień szabatu i poświęcił go” (Wj 20,8-11).

 

  • 1 Piotra 1:15 Ale na wzór Świętego, który was powołał, sami też bądźcie świętymi we wszelkim postępowaniu; ponieważ jest napisane: „ŚWIĘTYMI BĘDZIECIE, BO JA JESTEM ŚWIĘTY”. ● Księga Kapłańska 20:26 „Tak macie być dla mnie święci, bo Ja, Jehowa, jestem święty; i odłączyłem was od narodów, abyście byli Moi. „Jahwe ogłosił dzisiaj, że jesteście Jego ludem, (IZRAELEM) cenną własnością, jak wam obiecał, i że powinniście przestrzegać wszystkich Jego przykazań; i że wywyższy cię ponad wszystkie narody, które stworzył, ku chwale, sławie i czci; i że będziecie ludem poświęconym Jahwe, waszemu Elohimowi, jak On powiedział.” W księdze Dziejów Apostolskich uczniowie zachowywali sabat 85 razy.

 

  • Dzieje Apostolskie 20:6-7 Ale my odpłynęliśmy z Filippi po Święcie Przaśników, a pięć dni później dołączyliśmy do innych w Troadzie, gdzie spędziliśmy siedem dni. W pierwszy dzień tygodnia schodziliśmy się razem na łamanie chleba. Paweł przemawiał do ludu, a ponieważ zamierzał wyruszyć następnego dnia, przemawiał aż do północy. Werset 7 stwierdza w języku angielskim, że apostołowie zebrali się pierwszego dnia tygodnia, co sugeruje wielu, że sabat jest teraz pierwszym dniem tygodnia

 

Ponieważ werset ten jest używany do obrony niedzieli jako nowego dnia sabatu, spójrzmy na grecki werset, gdzie werset 7 mówi o „pierwszym dniu tygodnia”. Greckie słowo mówi właściwie... mia ton sabaton Greckie słowo mia oznacza „jeden”, a nie „pierwszy”… to greckie słowo „protos” oznacza „pierwszy”, którego nie ma w tekście.

Nie możemy sprawić, by powiedział coś, czego nie mówi… W rzeczywistości tłumaczy się to jako „jeden z szabatów”. Mnogi. Nie „Pierwszy dzień tygodnia”. Pojedynczy.". To ogromny błąd w tłumaczeniu, który przez lata był otwarcie akceptowany jako prawda.

Współczesny kościół uznaje, że dzień zmartwychwstania Jeszuy wypada w niedzielę. Zobaczmy naprawdę, którego dnia Jeszua zmartwychwstał.

 

  • Mateusza 20:40 Bo jak Jonasz był trzy dni i trzy noce we wnętrznościach wielkiej ryby, tak Syn Człowieczy będzie trzy dni i trzy noce w łonie ziemi.

  • Jana 11:9 Jeszua odpowiedział: „Czyż dzień nie ma dwunastu godzin? Jeśli ktoś chodzi za dnia, nie potknie się, bo widzi dzięki światłu tego świata 10. Ale jeśli ktoś chodzi w nocy, potknie się, bo nie ma światła”. … Oto coś do rozważenia. Jak możesz uzyskać 3 dni i 3 noce lub 72 godziny od Wielkiego Piątku do niedzielnego poranka zmartwychwstania? Jeśli policzyć, zostałby wskrzeszony w poniedziałek. Logika współczesnego kościoła dotycząca zamiany sobotniego szabatu na niedzielę nie jest prawdziwa, ponieważ nabożeństwa zmartwychwstania powinny odbywać się w poniedziałek po południu.

 

Bóg dał tylko siódmy dzień

imię, wszystkie pozostałe dni były policzone. Jeśli przyjrzysz się uważnie, zobaczysz, że mówią o jedzeniu i przyjmowaniu kogoś, kto jest słaby w wierze, ale nie o dyskutowaniu o wątpliwych rzeczach. Wspomina o jedzeniu co najmniej 10 razy. Kontekstem jest tutaj post, werset mówi im, że nie ma znaczenia, który dzień pościcie. Jeszua mówi, kiedy pościmy, a nie kiedy pościmy.

  • Rzymian 14:5 Jedna osoba jeden dzień wyżej ceni; inny szanuje każdy dzień podobnie. Niech każdy będzie w pełni przekonany we własnym umyśle.

  • Mateusza 6:16-18 „A kiedy pościcie, nie miejcie ponurej miny jak obłudnicy, bo oni szpecą swoje twarze, aby inni widzieli, że poszczą. Zaprawdę, powiadam wam, otrzymali swoją nagrodę. Ale kiedy pościcie, namaśćcie głowę i umyjcie twarz, aby wasz post nie był widziany przez innych, ale przez waszego Ojca, który jest w ukryciu. A Ojciec twój, który widzi w ukryciu, wynagrodzi cię”.

  • Psalm 35:13-14 „Nosiłem wór; Zadręczałem się postem; Modliłem się z głową pochyloną na piersi. Chodziłem tak, jakbym opłakiwał przyjaciela lub brata; jak opłakujący matkę, pokłoniłem się w żałobie”.
